2nd Alarm Structure Fire - Butler Day's Inn
On September 20, 2007 South Butler (STATION 7), Lyndora (STATION 4), Meridian (STATION 3) and Butler Ambulance (STATION 99) were dispatched at 02:31 a.m. for smoke in the front of the building at the Butler Day's Inn 139 Pittsburgh Rd. Within 1 minute Butler Township PD (134) was on scene and advised that there was fire showing and he was begining to evacuate the 150 room hotel. Captain 7-2 (Schmidt) advised 9-1-1 to dispatch a 2nd alarm. Butler City (STATION 1), Penn Twp (STATION 11), Greenwood Village (STATION 5), Mercer Road (STATION 6) were dispatched. Chief 7-2 (Henshaw) arrived on scene and advised he had heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the building. Rescue 7 arrived and pulled 1 3/4" Class A foam attack line to the front doors. Personnel had to force entry through the front glass doors. Engine 7 arrived and laid a 5" supply line from the hydrant in the front parking lot. Engine 1 arrived and pulled a 1 3/4" CAFS attack line to the front door with the crew from Rescue 7. Fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the room of origin. Salvage, Overhaul and Positive Pressure Ventilation were conducted soon after extinguishment.
